Biography
Maša’s professional background spans media, cultural, and human rights organizations, where her work has focused on creative activism, gender-based violence, personal storytelling, social taboos, and addressing various forms of systemic oppression in our cultures. She is also deeply engaged in creative healing practices that use art as a tool for transformation and empowerment.
For more than 20 years, she has been creating documentary films, experimental videos, and other visual works that explore personal and collective narratives, with a strong focus on socially engaged themes. Her work has been screened at international film festivals and exhibited in galleries and cultural spaces worldwide.
From 2015 to 2020, Maša co-founded and co-led SWAN, an international women’s art festival in Prague, in collaboration with a collective of artists and friends.
She teaches creative media production, a course centered on social issues, personal storytelling, and visual narratives. Additionally, she lectures in film directing, documentary filmmaking, and experimental cinema at Prague Film School.
Maša has collaborated with the Society for Creativity in Education (Společnost pro kreativitu ve vzdělávání), an organization committed to bringing creativity into schools and reimagining educational systems through innovative and inclusive practices.
She is also the co-founder of the Media & Film Initiative at Touching Lives, a non-profit based in Mumbai, India. The initiative aims to educate the children and young adults on hands-on skill building in Media & Film-making, use cinema for therapy and literacy in the classrooms and communities.
In 2020, Maša began developing a children’s book series that addresses themes of stigma, prejudice, and stereotypes. In collaboration with the Association of Foster Families, she co-created a book that centers on the experience of a child in foster care, shaped by creative work and storytelling with children themselves.
She is the founder and director of World Community Connect, an international organization dedicated to celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion—regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or age—through community art projects, creative education, and interdisciplinary collaborations with communities around the globe.Over the past several years, she has led visual storytelling workshops for women and girls in the Czech Republic, Georgia, India, and Mexico—fostering safe and expressive spaces for stories to be heard, and shared.
In 2023, together with her partner, she founded Panta Rhei, a collaborative platform for experimental video, music, and performance art. Through their performances, they intertwine storytelling, experimental aesthetics, personal narratives, and socially engaged topics, creating immersive and transformative audiovisual experiences.
In her artistic practice, Maša blends documentary elements, abstract art, and experimental video to explore the intersections of personal and social narratives. Her work takes shape through short films, video installations, collages, paintings, and mixed media, often blurring the lines between genres and disciplines.
My creative and healing works changed the trajectory when I understood magical mixtures of elements of art, nature, inner journeys, and outer worlds. I had the great fortune of studying work of people from different parts of the world, visual art made by dozens of women for the past two centuries, a key forces that helped my work to become sublimation of visual personal open space, space that invites people all over the world to share their voices, sing their songs, dance their stories, write their memories.
